Impromptu Wedding
Greece was the last leg of Alex and Tracy’s grand tour of Europe after the Netherlands, Belgium, and Paris. Alex came to us a few months prior with the hope to find an experienced planner to take some load off his shoulder with the planning and organizing of their grand trip. He then toyed with the sweet idea of giving his fiancee Tracy a “surprise” by having a wedding in Santorini. Our little secret operation went on unnoticed by Tracy. When it is time for Alex to break the news to her, we could imagine the bride-to-be’s excitement filled with tears.
During the travel planning discussion with the couple, it was imperative to be mindful of the pace of their travel activities and the star of the show, the Santorini wedding. This challenging trick of finding the right balance was entrusted to Joycelyn – our experienced wedding and travel planner. The fact that the couple were well-traveled and kept everything with an open mind definitely makes this a fantastic collaboration.
In one particular instance, we knew that besides Santorini they wish to visit one more Greek island. They are over hundreds of Greek islands with each having has its own unique appeals. Who could blame Alex and Tracy for flirting with the idea of island hopping? October sees most islands winding down and we have to make sure the wedding schedule is not jeopardized. Joycelyn obligingly arranged a day’s visit to the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos after we are convinced it will work.
Preparation Before the Ceremony
Prior to the couple’s arrival in Greece, the wedding program was already meticulously mapped out with all the ceremony essentials. And of course, the couple’s personalized requests were properly attended to. After months of painstaking planning and discussion, the day that all of us have been anticipating has finally arrived. We welcomed the couple on the island of Santorini and gave them some moments to settle down. A walk-through of the ceremonial procession was conscientiously conducted followed by an orientation around the ceremony venue. The chosen venue was perched on the high vantage point along the caldera rim along the western side of this volcanic island.
The Wedding Day
Santorini is well known for its iconic blue-domed chapels and bell towers, and whitewashed Cycladic-style houses stacked on precarious cliffs. On the day of the ceremony, the couple could not miss the opportunity for an outdoor shoot with postcard-worthy scenery.
The long-awaited ceremony commences an hour before the ever-gorgeous sunset of the Aegean sea, accompanied with joyous live traditional Greek music by our talented violinist. Every wedding is unique and special, not only does it mean so much to the couple but also for Joycelyn who was there to witness the celebration of love between Alex and Tracy. Their wedding ended on a high note with a romantic private dinner. Finally, let us cherish this special moment and bring back fond memories with the famous sunset of Santorini gradually retreating under the horizon.
