A simple yet elegant and romantic wedding in Santorini follows by a photography tour around this most spectacular Greek island, this must be the dream of most brides-to-be. In this two-part blog, we will share with you the symbolic wedding and pre-wedding photo session of Weiwen and Vivi, the couple’s romantic travel to Greece – the cradle of the Western civilization, the birthplace of democracy, literature and philosophies, the phenomenal landscape, and breathtaking scenery in Greece and the Aegean islands.
The Plan
We were delighted that our bride Vivi contacted us to plan her trip to Greece. She was contemplating the idea of having a wedding ceremony in Greece while holidaying in Greece. It is equally important that they complete the travel before their traditional Chinese wedding ceremony in Guangzhou China later. At this point, we felt the couple really helped a lot by telling us what they wanted.
The couple was searching high and low for a professional team who can plan and organized her entire trip and the wedding and the pre-wedding photoshoot. This way, they could focus their time to prepare for their traditional wedding at home. They also prefer the team can relate to their culture, language, and most importantly, someone that is familiar on the ground in Greece, especially Santorini.
We must have been blessed with such a lovely couple as the planning went really well. We designed a 10 days itinerary around the couple’s tight work schedule and travel expectations. The good mix of sightseeing in Athens and islands exploration at a relaxed pace certainly impressed them. The last thing they want is to be drained of their energy even before the wedding starts.

Their Arrival in Greece
They arrived in Athens and were received by our friendly driver to send them to their hotel, which is very near to Syntagma Square. Besides, the curated hotel was a stone’s throw to the famous sites and the old town of Plaka. Being close to plenty of Greek tavernas, cafes and bars was an added bonus! They had a good dinner in a local tavern and followed by a good rest.
Next, they set off to explore this once glorious and powerful city in ancient times. The city, Athens got its name from Athena, the goddess of wisdom and courage. As they navigated this bustling city with minimum fuss with the help from the travel information pack by Aegean Dreams, famous sites such as the Acropolis, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Temple of Olympian Zeus, changing of guards at Syntagma were unveiled before them.
Later that day, a half-day guided tour was arranged for them to visit the beautiful southern coastline of Athens, and among that lies the majestic Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, some 70km away from the city. They are in awe of the ancient architectural marvel that stands before them.

Shopping in Athens
Besides the immense history and cultural experience, Athens also offers great shopping choices! Kolonaki, a chic and upmarket neighborhood located on the southwestern slopes of Lycabettus hill. This is not only a fashionable meeting area but also one of the leading shopping areas in the entire city.
In contrast, Plaka is an old historical neighborhood of Athens next to the Acropolis. Its labyrinthine streets, neoclassical architecture, and the scattered signs of past glory set the mood for an intriguing afternoon. You will find something you like with plenty of artisan stores, souvenir shops, chic restaurants, and delicatessen. “This place is full of positive vibes!” Vivi said.
Last but not least, Monastiraki a flea market neighborhood close to Plaka offers many clothing boutiques, traditional taverns, and specialty stores that are definitely worth your time exploring. All in all, these areas are well within walking distance and highly recommended to really experience the daily life of an Athenian.

Finally, after two good days of history and archaeological sites, the couple is already looking forward to the highlights of their trip, that is to sail across the Aegean Sea! At the end of the sea journey, the gorgeous and mesmerizing Cycladic islands of Mykonos and Santorini await. “We can’t wait to see the islands!” exclaimed the couple.
